Terms and Conditions
Please read these terms and conditions carefully before proceeding with your order. Placing an order with Cakes From Me by paying a deposit is taken as acceptance of the terms and conditions detailed below.
Quotes are carefully worked out and based upon the ingredients, size, shape, tiers and intricacy of the design. Customers should confirm prices when placing their order.
It is your responsibility to read and check the quote, adding any amendments you require in writing. The final order form must be signed by you.
All our cakes are handmade and decorated to your requirements, slight changes may occur with colours and designs due to the nature of the work entailed. If major changes need to be made they will be discussed with you first.
Photo’s are for general illustration only and the product and colour may vary slightly from that shown.
Any cake ordered from a picture of a cake produced by another cake maker can only be made as our interpretation of that cake to ensure it does not copy any other cake maker’s work.
How far in advance do you need to order your cake?
For standard cakes we recommend a minimum of two weeks notice to ensure your date is available. For Novelty Cakes requiring edible sugar items on the cake it is three weeks notice. For Wedding cakes we recommend six weeks notice. However we will do our best to accommodate orders at a later notice if time permits.
Cake Design / Tasting consultations
Design / Tasting consultations can be arranged for wedding cake orders. Vanilla and chocolate flavours will be provided for free, but there is a non-refundable £10 deposit required for each additional cake flavour you choose, payable by Bank transfer or Cash, prior to the consultation. The deposit will be deducted from the final cost of your cake once your order has been confirmed.
Allergies and Special Diets
If you have specific allergy or dietary requests please ask. We make delicious gluten free and dairy free Vegan cakes.
It is your responsibility to advise us of any allergen risk. We can remove nuts or other allergens from the recipes if requested but they are still used on premises so cakes may still contain traces of milk, wheat, nuts, soy, and other allergens. You agree to inform your guests of this risk and hold us harmless for allergic reactions.
Deposit & Payments
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to book and secure your order. Without a deposit the date will not be held for longer than 72 hours. The outstanding balance is due two weeks before delivery/collection. No cake will be released until the outstanding balance is paid in full. Once deposit is received, you will receive a confirmation email or text. Payments can be made via Bank transfer or Cash.
Any alterations to your original order must be confirmed in writing and may be subject to an additional charge. Late amendments to orders are often possible and every effort will be made to accommodate changes, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Cancellation of Orders
Cancellation must be made by the customer in writing, (Via letter or Email) to Cakes From Me, and will only take effect from the date your letter/email is received.
Deposits and payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. Any outstanding balance cancelled within 2 weeks of the delivery/collection will be required to be paid in full.
Cakes From Me reserve the right to cancel the booking in very unusual circumstances which fall beyond our control (eg. Fire, Sickness, Accident). If this happens we will refund any money taken.
Cakes From Me shall not be liable for any consequential loss of the customer whether this arises from a breach of contract or any other way.
Liability for any claim howsoever arising shall not exceed the price of the goods supplied by Cakes From Me to the customer.
Collection & Delivery
Cakes are to be collected from our premises in Chigwell, Essex. Further details will be given at time of order.
Wedding cakes can be delivered and set up on request. This delivery service is free within 5 miles of our premises and will incur an additional delivery charge for longer journeys.
Transportation and storage
As a cake is very delicate and fragile, please keep it flat and stable when transporting. Never put a cake on a seat as this can be extremely unsafe and result in the cake sliding off.
Upon arrival, keep the cake in it’s box and store in a cool, dry place. All cakes are best eaten within 2 days. They may last for much longer but will not be as fresh.
Upon collection or delivery we always require you to sign a disclaimer to confirm that you are happy with the cake. We cannot accept any responsibility for any damage thereafter. If you are not present when we deliver the cake, we require you to authorise an event organiser or manager to sign the disclaimer on your behalf.
Where possible the figures and flowers are made to be edible. However your order may contain some non-edible items such as cake dowels, ribbons, flowers and more. You are responsible to remove any such items before serving.
